According to Article 1.A.2 of The 1951 Geneva Convention Relating to the Status of Refugees
That is, persons with a well-founded fear of persecution in their country for reasons of race, religion, nationality, political opinion, membership of a particular social group, gender or sexual orientation.
Refugees are granted the right of asylum
Refugees are granted the right of asylum.
That is, persons who are not refugees but who are unable to return to their country of origin for the following reasons:
– Death sentence or execution.
– Torture, inhuman and degrading treatment.
– Serious threats to life or safety as a result of situations of indiscriminate violence.
These persons will benefit from additional protection.
* It is not possible to apply for the status of refugee or asylum in several countries at the same time.
